Our International Work
PROJECT ONE
This is the first project Light to the Nations Fellowship opened in a slum numbering five thousand. Most of the adults in this area are daily wage earners and come for generations of poverty. Like their parents and grandparents, the adults are not able to read or write which traps them in a life of hard labor seven days a week, twelve hours a day, for wages that cannot provide even basic care for themselves or their children.
We have created a bright and happy, activity-based free school for both preschool children and older children who have never been to school. Our teachers hold a Bachelor Degree in education and are trained continually to sharpen their skills.
We visit door to door teaching the parents the importance of releasing their children from trash picking or begging for a couple hours a day to gain a treasure their family has never had; reading, writing, and arithmetic in an atmosphere of love and dignity. The children also receive a nutritious hot meal every day they are in school. For many of them, this is the only nutritious meal of their day.
PROJECT TWO
Project Two is modeled after our Project One preschool but in a larger slum numbering 10,000 families. Like the slum of Project One this slum is also filled with uneducated daily wage earners and children picking through trash to make whatever wage they can from selling recyclables.
Throughout the year we also give lessons in life skills like washing hands, brushing teeth (including free tooth brushes and tooth paste) and washing hands. Each winter, we provide the children in all projects with much needed sweaters for the cold nights on the hard ground. Like all our projects, Project Two is also a free school for the destitute.
All of our projects accept needy children from all backgrounds, races, colors, creeds. The children are warmly welcomed with hugs, love, and acceptance. We have observed that children who feel safe, secure, and loved, learn faster and retain more.

PROJECT THREE
Project Three is a full day coaching class for children of Project One who have graduated into the wonderful world of reading and writing. These children attended our Project One faithfully, worked hard, and had breakthroughs into reading and writing. Rather than a two hour program followed by the free, nutritious meal, these students return to the classroom after lunch for another two hours of instruction. The full day program includes all subjects: their country's language, English, Math, Science, History, Music, Art, and Computers in our computer lab.
These students are becoming wonderful resources to their families because they now have skills their family has never had. That is the transformation Light to the Nations Fellowship seeks!
